The first thing to success is to notice that this business is built on relationships. People do not want to purchase products, or join opportunities, only to please you. Rather, they join opportunities when they believe the opportunity and their sponsor has something to present them.
Therefore, the main element here is to "lead with value." By that, I mean you need to offer your prospect or website visitor something she or he is not being presented elsewhere.
Fortunately, with the resources available on the internet, this can be done by simply giving your prospects access to useful training, like a free MLM webinar training, that is generic in nature and relevant to any network marketing opportunity.
Another way on how to network market is by using the "new school" ways of marketing. Lots of the old school marketing strategies, such as cold calling prospective customers, buying leads, using the 3 foot rule, and hosting opportunity meetings, still work. However, in my experience, I have realized these techniques are very ineffective, and next to extremely hard to duplicate.
The thing is, a small percentage of us are willing to buckle down and do the distasteful things like cold calling and talking to unknown people in the mall, but many of the people you sponsor into your business won't be either ready or able to do what you do.
This is a depressing fact about our industry, and accounts for most of the attrition, aggravation, and failure we see in multilevel marketing.
After many years of struggling in this business, it ultimately dawned on me that I had to use methods of prospecting my down line members might duplicate. Several years ago the idea of "attraction marketing" began to gain a foothold in our industry. Attraction marketing in other words is the simple technique of prospecting by sharing value with prospects well before you introduce them to your opportunity.
Have you actually been to Costco, or any supermarket for instance, and been offered a free sample? This is the same idea as attraction marketing. Rather than just asking a buyer to purchase your food product, you simply offer samples. If the shopper likes it, she or he may buy it.
But I am not suggesting you share samples of your product with strangers. What I am suggesting, is that you share your information, recommendations, and ideas with strangers, without requesting them to join your opportunity.
In the attraction marketing model, if the time is right for your potential client, he or she will approach you for ideas on how to get started in the best opportunity for them.
And ultimately, this is how to network market effectively with step number 3, you need to avoid getting confused by the number of opportunities and marketing tools that are offered to you on the internet.
It has been said that a confused mind never purchases. In my opinion, this extends to the multilevel marketing industry as well.
A puzzled mind doesn't build a team.
You need to keep it as easy as possible. Teach your team members simple methods, like handing a business card to a friend or co-worker which refers them to an online presentation, or even better, a valuable training webinar. Or possibly including a signature line to your forum profile and then focusing on answering people's queries with quality content, rather than just spamming your forum with links to your opportunity.
